Superlab Suisse is set to open its second lab-as-a-service facility in Basel, Switzerland, with a third co-working space for life science and biotech startups planned for Zurich next year, the company announced.

The newest private lab space in Basel complements Superlab Suisse's first site in Lausanne that hosts research groups, such as the Lausanne University Hospital, the University of Lausanne, and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.

Basel is home to over 700 companies, including Novartis and Roche, Superlab Suisse noted in its announcement. The expansion marks a "significant milestone in the company's mission to provide research infrastructure to Switzerland's dynamic life sciences sector," Superlab Suisse said.

One of the first companies to secure space at the Basel facility is Skyhawk Therapeutics, Superlab Suisse noted. Skyhawk focuses on small molecules that modify RNA expression and recently announced a research collaboration with French pharmaceutical firm Ipsen for RNA targeting in rare neurological diseases.

The new Basel facility is located near Tech Park Basel, Lonza, Medartis, NBE, and Boehringer Ingelheim, and offers ready-to-use laboratory spaces equipped with technology and operational support services, Superlab Suisse said. Opening in July, the Basel site spans more than 51,000 sq ft.
