Labcorp announced that it has completed its acquisition of the molecular testing site and other assets of Lab Works, an accredited independent clinical laboratory in Birmingham, AL.
It is one of a series of acquisitions and strategic partnerships that Labcorp has made with local and regional health systems and labs, the company said in a statement. In addition, Labcorp made several recent agreements that have expanded its portfolio, including becoming the exclusive nationwide distributor of NowDiagnostics' First to Know Syphilis Test, acquiring Invitae's portfolio, and buying BioReference Health's lab testing businesses.
Further, the Burlington, NC-based firm announced that executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) Glenn Eisenberg will retire from the company. Julia Wang will join Labcorp on December 2 as executive vice president and CFO. Eisenberg will remain at Labcorp through April 2025 as a special adviser to the CEO to ensure a seamless transition of his current role, as well as to assist with ongoing strategic initiatives, according to the company. Wang served as CFO of BeiGene from 2020 until the present; she has also held leadership roles at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Quest Diagnostics, and Johnson & Johnson.
